I have seen a few articles on 'Why I didn't Change My Profile Picture' in referance to the attacks in Paris and around the world, and while I have made it my motto to try and post only positive things I will perfectly and honestly say those articles are full of shit! Yep you heard me correctly; miss pristine said that. They're posting these articles to prove a point, but the point is not taken. In fact it makes me angry. If you choose to not post a photo that is fine, but don't be negative about it. Why does everything have to be negative now-a-days? What does being negative prove? I do agree that it should be more of a worldly representation than a specific country, because this violence has happened throughout the world; look at Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Kenya, Syria etc. (It doesn't end) even if you post just the picture of France in the background, it means something, it really does mean something!! Sometimes there really is nothing physical we can do, but just a symbolic representation can mean all the world.
To prove a point I want to mention my new passion; running. Almost every day I run, not just because it is healthy for me, but it makes me feel good. Everyday I run by the same group of people and everyday I say a very loud and exuberant 'Good Morning!' I say that 'Good Morning' even more loudly to the people that ignore me completely on a daily basis. Someday, someday I will get them to say hello to me! I know I will! My hope is that this simple hello will make all the difference to them and I think and hope it has.
I have already noticed that there is one guy that is starting to smile every time I pass him and Jayme (yes at the stop light I was able to identify the elderly man that walks by me every day as I happily say "Good Morning' to him), and it made all the difference. My hope is that this simple hello will brighten someones day. Maybe this person was feeling really depressed and needed that greeting to feel like they truly existed and were important in this world. Maybe something dark and depressing was going on in their life, but that simple hello made all the difference. Those simple acts of kindness and simple greetings have made a difference to me in the past, why not them?
That is why I say a simple change in your profile picture could make a difference in this world of ours. I know I can't change the world in a profound way, but maybe, just maybe by changing my profile picture to a picture representing the world with all the different flags will show I care, and maybe showing that I care is all that is needed.
Peggy you are right on the money, you have always had a way of making people fell better, most of the time it was without words. You are what I call a beautiful person
